294,612 of the automaker’s 2023-2025 Honda Pilot sport utility vehicles (SUVs), 2022-2025 Acura MDX Type-S SUVs and 2021-2025 Acura TLX Type-S sedans are affected
Honda has issued a recall for nearly 295,000 vehicles, including specific Honda Pilot SUVs (model years 2023-2025), Acura MDX Type-S SUVs (2022-2025), and Acura TLX Type-S sedans (2021-2025), due to improperly programmed software in the fuel injection electronic control units. This defect can cause sudden throttle changes, illuminating the check engine light and potentially leading to engine hesitation, loss of power, or stalling, thereby increasing the risk of accidents. As of January 16, 2025, Honda reported no injuries or accidents related to this issue. The company is notifying affected owners and providing a software update to rectify the problem.
